eDPI Calculator

Enter your DPI and in-game sensitivity to calculate your effective DPI (eDPI).

How to Use the eDPI Calculator

The eDPI Calculator is designed to help you optimize your gaming performance by finding the perfect mouse sensitivity settings for your preferred games.

Whether you’re a competitive FPS player or a casual gamer, understanding your effective DPI (eDPI) is crucial for consistent aiming precision across different games. Here’s a quick guide on how to use this calculator and why it’s important:

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1) Select Sensitivity Type:
  • Number / Decimal (Valorant, CS: GO, etc.): Choose this option if your game uses sensitivity in decimal form. It is commonly used in games like Valorant and CS:GO.
  • Percentage (Fortnite, etc.): Select this option if the sensitivity in your game is already shown as a percentage, such as in Fortnite.
2) Enter Your Mouse DPI:
  • The DPI (Dots Per Inch) is the hardware sensitivity of your mouse. A higher DPI means that your cursor will move further for each inch you move the mouse.
  • Input your current mouse DPI in the “Mouse DPI” field. Most gaming mouse come with adjustable DPI settings, often ranging from 400 to 1600 DPI.
3) Enter Your In-Game Sensitivity:
  • It’s the sensitivity setting used in your game. You can find this value in your game settings for games like Valorant, CS: GO, or Fortnite.
  • Input that value in the “In-game Sensitivity” field.
4) Click on "Calculate eDPI":
  • After entering the above values, click on the “Calculate eDPI” button.
  • You’ll see a timer animation for 5 seconds, during which your eDPI will be calculated. The result will shown in a popup window.

Understanding eDPI and Its Importance

eDPI stands for Effective Dots Per Inch and can be calculated by multiplying your Mouse DPI with your In-game Sensitivity. It provides a standardized sensitivity value consistent across different games, regardless of your DPI settings. eDPI helps you:

  • Compare Sensitivity Across Games: Unlike DPI, which only measures hardware sensitivity, or in-game sensitivity, which varies between games, eDPI combines both to give you a standardized measure.
  • Ensure Consistent Sensitivity: If you play multiple games like CS: GO, Valorant, Apex Legends, and Fortnite, eDPI helps ensure your aim feels consistent across all these titles, providing better control and precision.
  • Replicate Pro Settings: Many professional players use specific eDPI values to optimize their aiming. This calculator lets you match your settings to your favourite pro players for any FPS game.

eDPI Calculation Example

Here’s an example of how to calculate eDPI:

  • Suppose you use DPI: 800 and Sensitivity: 0.5 in CS: GO.
  • The eDPI is calculated as: eDPI = DPI × Sensitivity = 800 × 0.5 = 400

This 400 eDPI value gives you a standardized number that can help you match your sensitivity with other players or across different games.

Using eDPI for Different Games

Each game has its own in-game sensitivity settings, which can make transitioning between titles challenging. Here’s how you can use eDPI to ensure consistency:

  1. Valorant and CS: GO: Both games often require precise aim, and many players use low eDPI settings ranging from 200 to 400 for better accuracy. Enter your DPI and in-game sensitivity to calculate your eDPI and adjust accordingly for the best experience.
  2. Fortnite: With its fast building and editing requirements, Fortnite players often use higher eDPI values, sometimes reaching 500-800 for quicker movements.
  3. Apex Legends: Due to its fast-paced nature, Apex Legends players prefer a middle-ground eDPI between 400 and 600 for both aiming accuracy and rapid target switching.

Tips for Choosing the Right eDPI

  • Play Style: If you prefer sniping or holding angles, a lower eDPI may be better as it allows for finer control. For aggressive, fast-paced gameplay, a higher eDPI may work better.
  • Mousepad Space: A more oversized mousepad allows for lower DPI and sensitivity, providing a more precise aim. If you have limited space, a higher eDPI may be more convenient.
  • Professional Player Settings: You can check the eDPI settings of skilled players in your favourite game to find a starting point. Many pros use eDPI within specific ranges based on the game’s requirements and personal preferences.
